New comment section!Oh yeah, this is happening! I've had different plans this month such as posting more articles, but out of curiosity i decided to try making a comment section in PHP. I already knew of one website that had accomplished this, but i was discouraged at first because the website in question has so much going on behind the scenes to the point that it has it's own DATABASE. I really didn't think it was possible, but i've managed to implement it in around the same capacity which opens up a lot of possibilities. The website i mentioned is called razorback95, and i've refrained from mentioning it up until now because i still think my website is nothing to it in comparasion. And also, since all of this is PHP, i must now confirm that it does work in older browsers. It might not look pretty though, so i'd still say RetroZilla is the "oldest" browser that can render this website 100% properly. Kind of getting sick of this older browser shtick though. Back on topic, i think i'm really gonna benefit from this comment section. I almost never receive feedback for my articles so it's just like, "hey i posted a new article" and sometimes i get no response at all. Okay, this might be hinting at obsessive behaviour but i'm genuine over here!. It's just so much more interesting, and i encourage you to comment on this website as much as possible! GuidelinesI don't know why i am typing this, but there is some stuff in regards to spam that i'd like to talk about. If someone does try to clog up the comments on this website, i have no idea how i am going to stop them since it's not like i can ban them. But hey! I can disable commenting or clear out comments on articles with ease, and if they were gonna be a piece of shit then they probably don't belong on this website to begin with. There are a couple of pre-requisites present to typing comments as well. You may not write a comment that's over 1000 characters in length, and you also must supply a username that cannot be over 16 characters. I think 16 characters is more than good enough. There is also an optional website field, and it works just like an URL. That does mean that you can link your email by using "mailto:" if you really want to! Formatting!Yes, there is (minimal) formatting available. You can bold, italicize, and underline your text. You can also place line breaks and emoticons. I'll first explain how to bold your text and such. If you want to bold your text, simply do it as you would when typing an HTML document, but replace the "less" or "greater than" symbols with open and closed square brackets respectivly. So in the end, when you would want a paragraph to be bold it should look like this. This also applies to italicized and underlined words. Line breaks also work the same, just type [br]! Emoticons are also a thing i've implemented. Right now, i've added all of the friday ones and only some phpbb emoticons. You can give me requests to do more, but do not expect me to add an emoticon of your profile picture, or some kind of emoticon that's only unique to you. The only suggestions i will take are probably more phpbb emoticons.
In any case, i will now state that i will eventually create an in-depth guide on how you can create comments like this using PHP. I'll start off with the basics, and then i will eventually include the smaller things like replacing characters and adding website links. 'Till then, happy website making. Comments
This is really cool! Like I said, I probably won't be implementing comments on my website, at least not on ALL pages. I was thinking of just putting an overall site comments page in the bottom taskbar.
alright let's be honest, nobody uses emails these days not even me
i do not know where that came from
Yeah, true. Most of the time email boxes are used for nothing but spam and stupid verification codes (but that task has mostly moved to toy cellphones by this point). But overtime I had received about 10 emails... which is an unimpressive number but surprising considering that they actually took the time to email. Honestly I do miss my grandma's emails. I mean, she's still alive, she just moved to facebook a long time ago now (but she used to include me in her sweet sweet email forwards of memes from 2007
(Also that's emails regarding my website. the part of my grandmas emails was unrealted. agh if I ever make a custom comment and chat for aftersleep it needs to have an account system (and then I'll end up having to make a database, aAAHHGHGH))
I've still got no additional emails asides from the "testing" messages that we've exchanged, but that's not surprising. I don't have anyone outside of here that I could possibly talk to with email. As a side-note, I am typing this from a very old telephone right now due to the fact that it is all I have currently and that PHP is paying off! Copyright ©2022-2023 UserPenalties |
